In South Africa, a dog found a venomous snake under the table and warned the owner about it
In a village near the city of Durban, South Africa, a fearless dog saved his mistress from a poisonous snake.
The dog Benji was barking at something under a table in the yard of the house. The dog had found snakes on the property before and warned the owner, so she immediately contacted snake catcher Nick Evans. “I’m usually extremely skeptical of requests to catch a snake that hasn’t even been seen. But I know this dog and I’ve been on this property, so I knew it was best to check,” says the snake catcher.
Evans and his wife drove to the house and, after looking in the gap between the boards under the table, did indeed find a snake there. At first the snakeologist thought there was a Mozambique cobra lurking under the boards, but upon pulling them away he realized that a venomous black mamba had crawled onto the property. Evans managed to catch the snake. It was about two and a half meters long.
According to the snakekeeper, this situation showed how important it is to listen to pets. In his opinion, if the mistress had not called for help in time, the venomous snake could have crawled out from under the table and bitten Benji.
The black mamba is an African snake that can be over three meters long. Its venom is considered very dangerous. The victim experiences searing pain, the bite site swells, peripheral paralysis develops. Without an antidote, death is inevitable.
