In India, surgeons have successfully performed a complex operation to reconstruct a man’s severed penis.
On November 7, at about 11 a.m., a 35-year-old patient who had his penis torn off during a fight was brought to the municipal hospital in Ahmedabad. The man was in critical condition and underwent emergency surgery. Doctors of the plastic surgery department reattached the severed organ using microvascular surgery. The procedure took about five hours and was successful. Twenty days after the operation, the doctors announced that the patient was healthy and would soon be discharged.
The procedure to reattach the severed penis is a very complex operation as it involves reconnecting the blood vessels and urinary tract.
