A resident of the US state of Georgia, who posed as a missionary, embezzled $30 million and squandered it on diamonds and gambling.
Jason Gerald Schenck, 45, pretended to be a missionary. Under the guise of a priest, he received money as donations from groups and individuals from Ohio and North Carolina. The donors believed the money would be used to purchase Bibles and religious literature and then ship them to China.
The American is accused of 4 episodes of fraud and 37 episodes of money laundering. It is reported that the man bought diamonds and gold with the embezzled money, as well as spent the funds on gambling. He spent a million dollars on online casinos.
In 2016, Schenck renounced his U.S. citizenship. He is now on an international wanted list.
