The pigeon was caught in May last year. The bird had two rings on its paw – one made of copper and the other of aluminum. There were also inscriptions in Chinese on the wings.
Police opened a case against the pigeon on suspicion of espionage. But it was later found out that it had participated in an event in the open waters of Taiwan, and had simply flown away after landing in India.
The bird was released after 8 months in custody.
