In southern Australia, a horse collided with a taking off a light-engine airplane. About it writes Insider.
According to police reports, on Sunday morning a two-seater plane was taking off from the outskirts of the city of Brentwood, at this point on the runway there was an unexpected obstacle in the form of a horse. Moving at a speed of approximately 112 kilometers per hour, the aircraft crashed into the animal and flipped over. The animal, pilot and passenger were injured as a result of the collision.
The 63-year-old man sitting at the controls was hospitalized immediately after the collision. The 56-year-old female passenger was also given first aid. The horse was taken to a veterinary clinic, but its injuries were incompatible with life and the animal could not be saved.
“Sadly, I have to say that the horse was unable to cope with its injuries and had to be put to sleep. This is sad news for all involved and witnesses to the incident. I know many people were concerned about the horse’s condition, especially on social media” Jen Cullinan
Police have referred the collision case to Recreational Aviation Australia, the organization responsible for private flights in the country. Its representatives said they had not yet received official documents from the collision but were “closely monitoring the situation.”
