In the U.S. state of Texas, a teenage girl who did not know she was pregnant suddenly gave birth to a baby and surrendered it to employees of a medical supply store. About it reports WKYT.
The teenager came to the medical supply store and stated that his girlfriend and baby needed help. Store employee Angela Owens ran outside, assuming the infant was suffocating.
“I opened the passenger door and saw the teenage girl sitting there with a towel-wrapped newborn baby on her lap,” Owens said. The parents reported that the girl was only an hour old. The young mother admitted she didn’t even realize she was pregnant.
While on the phone with emergency services, Owens helped tie the umbilical cord with string. Her coworker Tabatha Peri took a wheelchair to assist the young mother, but she remained in the vehicle. Owens feared the couple would abandon the baby instead of leaving her in the baby box, so she picked her up herself.
“She was crying, twitching and trying to suck her cam in hopes of getting food,” the store employee said.
According to police, the girl was taken to the hospital and is doing well. Police tracked down the couple and made sure the mother received treatment after giving birth. Whether they will face any charges is not yet known
