Kate Middleton was forced to declare cancer due to a shaft of conspiracy theories
Princess Kate Middleton of Wales has announced that she has been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy. Such a frank statement about her health she had to make because of the shaft of conspiracy theories that arose after her disappearance from the public sphere in December 2023 and a sudden operation in January. During this time, the network has had time to speculate that the 42-year-old princess has fallen into a coma, divorced Prince William, or even is already lying in the ground somewhere. Attempts to calm the public with the help of an edited family photo and a video from a farmer’s market only made things worse, but conspiracy theorists already seem to have nothing to answer to a frank confession about the diagnosis.
Kate Middleton has cancer
Kate Middleton posted the appeal out of the blue around 9 p.m. on Friday, March 22. The video appeared on the Instagram account (social network banned in Russia; owned by Meta Corporation, which is recognized in Russia as extremist and banned) of the Prince and Princess of Wales.
First of all, the princess thanked everyone for their support, and also expressed special thanks to the doctors.
The princess confirmed that she underwent abdominal surgery in January and noted that the procedure was a success. At the time of the surgery, doctors did not diagnose her with cancer, but the results of tissue tests after the surgery showed that there were cancer cells in them.
In this regard, doctors advised Kate Middleton to undergo a preventive course of chemotherapy. She admitted that she is in the early stages of treatment.
“It was, of course, a huge shock and William and I did everything we could to cope without drawing too much attention to our young family. As you can imagine, it took some time. It took me a while to recover from major surgery and get into therapy. But, much more importantly, it took time for us to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis. So that they would understand, and so that they would believe that I was going to be OK” – Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales.
from an address in which she admitted she had cancer.
Middleton assured that she is getting better every day. William, according to her, is very helpful and supportive of her. Also, all the words of support she receives from all over the world are very valuable and important to her.
At the end of the address, the princess asked to temporarily not disturb her family while she undergoes treatment. Middleton assured that as soon as she can, she will return to work, which she loves very much, but right now she must focus on her treatment. She then separately addressed everyone who has cancer and urged them not to lose faith and hope.
How the princess is being treated
Kate Middleton has not announced her diagnosis and, apparently, does not plan to do so. The Daily Mail quotes a representative of the princess, who said that no further medical information will not be disclosed.
“The Princess, like all of us, has the right to keep information about her health secret” – Kate Middleton’s spokesperson
Kensington Palace has made no comment on the timing of Kate Middleton’s treatment. It was previously believed that she would return to duty after Catholic Easter, which is celebrated on March 31 this year.
According to the Daily Mail, Kate Middleton began preventative chemotherapy in late February. She learned of her diagnosis when the results of her post-surgery tests became known and rechecked. The source added that it had been an “incredibly difficult” two months for Kate. All the while, her strongest concern was reportedly the welfare of her children.
Where Kate Middleton is now
In late February, Prince William inexplicably refused to attend the memorial service for his godfather, King Constantine II of Greece, at the last minute “due to a personal matter”. This caused a huge public outcry at the time, with reports about it appearing in all British media, from tabloids like the Daily Mail and The Sun to serious publications like The Guardian and The Times. Such unanimity in news coverage of the royal family is extremely rare.
British journalists are now speculating that this is because the prince may have either learned of his wife’s diagnosis that day, or that she needed to undergo chemotherapy, or decided to accompany her for treatment.
It is known that Kate Middleton and Prince William were contacted privately by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and expressed their support. Presumably, they were unaware of the princess’ diagnosis until then.
The Sunday Times published an article which revealed that in January, when Kate Middleton was undergoing treatment in hospital, King Charles III, who was also undergoing therapy at the time, was very supportive of his daughter-in-law. The publication began with a touching scene in the hospital, which was described to journalists by a source close to the king.
“A person who happened to be in the corridors of The London Clinic in January could see the most unexpected sight of his life: a seventy-year-old gentleman in a hospital gown waddled down the corridor from his hospital bed (…) to visit his sister-in-law, who had just undergone a major abdominal operation. The gentleman was the King, and the second patient, of course, was the Princess of Wales” – from The Sunday Times publication
The publication’s sources claim that the relationship between Charles III and Kate Middleton has always been good, and now that both are battling cancer, it is stronger than ever. A day before the publication of the princess’s appeal, they had dinner together, and after the publication, the king said he felt deeply proud of his daughter-in-law and admired her courage. Along with his wife, Queen Camilla, he promised to “continue to offer support and love to their family in these challenging times.”
According to the latest reports, Kate Middleton has left the palace in Winsdor and is believed to have traveled with her husband and children to the Anmer Hall estate in Norfolk, where the whole family will spend the Easter vacations.
Conspiracy theories about Kate Middleton
In late February – early March, the world began to discuss the “disappearance” of Kate Middleton. Previously appearing at public events several times a week, the princess completely disappeared from the pages of all publications. At the time, she last appeared in public at a Christmas Eve service on December 25, 2023, and on January 17 it was announced that she had undergone abdominal surgery and would recover by the end of March. No photos or videos of her have surfaced for a long time. It was emphasized that the princess has no cancer diagnosis.
This led to the uncontrolled emergence of rumors. The author of one of the first theories was Spanish journalist Concha Calleja. Back in January, she claimed, citing sources, that the princess was put into a medically induced coma due to complications after surgery. In February, a spokesperson for the princess denied Calleja’s report. “It’s complete nonsense,” he told a reporter for The Times. – This journalist didn’t even try to fact-check her conversation with anyone at the palace. It’s fundamental, absolute fiction, and I’m still being polite.”
Adherents of other conspiracy theories believed that there was no illness and Kate Middleton’s disappearance was due to something else – such as a desire to cover up a quarrel or even a divorce from Prince William. They appealed to a strange case of publication in one of the British tabloids: there was first published a material “Kate Middleton can be first the best friend, and a minute later – the worst enemy”, and a day later her name was replaced by the name of Prince Harry.
The real gift for conspiracy theorists was the appearance of a photo of the royal family, in which Kate Middleton posed with children. The press service hoped that the publication of this photo would stop speculation and calm the public, but it turned out to be exactly the opposite
Due to the fact that the photo left traces of careless editing, the rumors became even more. And Kate Middleton’s apology, who wrote that she personally ruled the photo, caused not sympathy, but suspicions that she was forced to take all the blame by Prince William, who had allegedly already almost left for a mistress.
Later as actively discussed the video on which Kate Middleton and Prince William were filmed leaving the farm store. Even Christopher Bauzy, head of Bot Sentinel, a company that identifies bots on social networks, doubted its authenticity.
After Kate Middleton’s video message, many tabloids released columns in which experts on the royal family apologized for spreading rumors. Some celebrities like actress Blake Lively and singer Kerry Katona also apologized to the princess.
