In India, a mother killed her daughter after an argument over the girl’s romantic relationship.
In Mumbai, 40-year-old Tina Umesh Bagade was arrested on suspicion of committing a serious crime. The woman and her sons brought Bagade’s 19-year-old daughter, Bumika, to the hospital. The mother informed doctors that the girl had suffered an epileptic attack after which she did not regain consciousness. Doctors were unable to resuscitate the victim and quickly found out that she had been strangled. They also found abrasions and bruises on Bumika’s face.
The medics contacted the police. Law enforcers summoned Bagade and her children for questioning. During the investigation, it emerged that there had been a serious conflict between Bagade and her daughter over a man Bumika was dating. That evening they started arguing again and at one point a heated Bumika bit her mother’s index finger, tearing off a piece of it. Because of the bitten finger, Bagade became furious, grabbed her daughter by the neck with both hands and started strangling her in retaliation. All this happened in front of Bagade’s younger children, whom she had instructed to keep quiet. When the woman’s eldest sons came running to the house after the call, she told them that she had an epileptic attack because the girl had indeed been diagnosed as such.
After the woman confessed to what she had done, she was taken into custody.
