A resident of the British county of Nottinghamshire collected in his garage robot and went with him to drink beer in the pub.
Ryan Howard, who is now 34 years old, bought a 3D printer in 2018 and decided to create a replica of Johnny 5’s head from the movie Short Circuit. After that, he had the idea to make a complete replica of the robot out of metal. In the end, the man spent six years and 20 thousand pounds (2.4 million rubles) to create the android.
Created by the British robot can dance and talk, his weight is 200 kilograms. Howard met with Tim Blaney, who voiced Johnny 5, who gave him advice on how to program the robot’s voice.
During the development of the project, the Brit had to move into a house with an annex. Sometimes he worked 14 hours a day, skipping holidays to complete his creation.
Howard claims his Johnny 5 is 99 percent similar to the original. The robot is about 1.8 meters tall. “People’s reactions are amazing. We saw some people crying as they walked past him,” Howard revealed. The man emphasized that the robot has become part of their family and he even talks to him.
The original plan was for Johnny 5 to just stand in the corner of the room, but now Howard can program it to do different things. The family often takes the robot to various events including weddings, charity events and school events. Howard even brought him to drink beer at a local pub, where Johnny 5 delighted the customers.
