Two young men have been detained in India after they attacked their sister’s teacher with a gun over harassment.
The incident took place on February 14 in the city of Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. At around 9 am, 26-year-old educationist Raqib Hussain was on his way to attend classes at the school. On the way, he was met by two youths aged 17 and 18. After a brief conversation, one of them pulled out a pistol and shot Hussain. The teacher fell down and the attackers fled.
Eyewitnesses immediately took him to hospital and reported the incident to the police. Hussain was wounded only in the earlobe, and now his life is not threatened. The next day, law enforcers detained the shooter and his accomplice, who turned out to be brothers. They claimed that in January the teacher sexually harassed their sister during a lesson. The schoolgirl confirmed it during the interrogation.
Investigators later checked Hussain’s cell phone and found recordings of inappropriate conversations with some students. The administration of the school where he works has been notified of the harassment. The investigation is ongoing.
